Why Singapura

Four cultures, one island, endless things to eat.

The name Singapura comes from the Sanskrit for “Lion City”, and the city has certainly roared since. Chinese, Malay, Indian and Peranakan traditions live side by side, giving Singapore its distinctive food, festivals and architecture.

It is also remarkably easy to visit. Compact, safe and spotlessly clean, with a superb MRT, you can wake up to kaya toast in a heritage shophouse and end the night under glowing Supertrees, with a rainforest walk in between.

Must-see

The icons you came for

From glowing Supertrees to the world's most photogenic airport, these are the places that define the Singapore skyline and beyond.

Hawker centres are the heart of the city

Hawker culture is on UNESCO's list of Intangible Cultural Heritage. For a few dollars, you can eat dishes that have taken stallholders decades to perfect.
